Aslihan is a unique person as every other soul is. She would define herself as a "wandering nomad and all-time learner". Her favorite quote as her departure as well as destination point is “Not all who wander are lost”.
After working in banking as a corporate risk manager for many years both in Canada and Turkiye, she decided to change her career and became a teacher. After those years of volunteering in schools while still working in banks, with the encouragement of her teacher friends, she found the courage to leave banking behind and embark on a new journey: she switched to teaching, which she has been considering not as a job but rather as a passion since college years. Thus, in addition to her ongoing private tutoring classes in Canada, she started her second career as a teacher in Francophone public schools after completing her academic background. She successfully adopted and applied Waldorf Pedagogy, Mindfulness for Teens & Tweens, Growth Mindset, Holistic & Play-based Learning and Universal Design of Learning techniques as her core teaching techniques.
Recently, she returned to her home country with her dear husband, lovely daughter and 4 amazing cats. They chose to settle in Bodrum.
For those wondering, Aslihan completed her conventional academic background over the years at Saint Benoit French Immersion School, Boğaziçi Business Administration, and Ottawa University Dual Language _ English & French - Education Departments.
On the other hand, she completed Advanced MBSR - Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction trainings over the years from the Toronto Mindfulness Community and attended workshops and retreats. She participated to the social service and volunteering activities of the Canadian Sufi Center, took “Mindfulness in Education” courses for Children and Adolescents to be certified from the University of Toronto where she is still continueing her studies.
Her greatest teacher has always been her daughter. With this beautiful soul joining her on this earthly journey, she learned to practice acceptance and unconditional love by embracing mistakes and repositioning these as pretakes. She has a chance to explore many branches of art craft in various colors of life. She is offering her gratitude to all beings that she met so far, top of the list being her daughter.
Raising children who can connect with their environment, who are empathetic, flexible and develop emotional strength.
To develop belonging and resilience by remembering the bond of our souls and bodies with mother nature.
To rebuild and shape our daily city lives by holding on to this bond.
To raise awareness in our children about stress management
To provide experiences that can let them fly with their wings of imagination
Kon-Tiki is the raft used by Norwegian scientist Thor Heyerdahl and his five friends on their voyage from the west coast of South America to the islands east of Tahiti in 1947. Heyerdahl wanted to prove the idea that people living in America in ancient times could have established colonies in Polynesia by crossing the ocean on rafts. Heyerdahl managed to travel 4,300 miles in 101 days with this raft, which he and his friends built from balsa tree logs grown in Callao (Peru) and named Kon-Tiki after the legendary Inca god. Today, Kon-Tiki is exhibited in the museum of the same name in Oslo.
We got inspired by the Kontiki expedition which was born out of combination of belief in ancient wisdom and effort in the present time. This is how we view the return to nature. Nature is the mother earth in which we take root, an ocean of possibilities in which we anchor. The strength and sincerity of our bond with nature is our roots in mother earth and our anchor in the seas.
